District 204 Curriculum is based upon state
and national curriculum standards and local needs. May Watts teachers follow
district curriculum. Many May Watts teachers sit on district curriculum committees
and are involved with decisions regarding content, process, materials, resources, and other
matters that affect the curriculum offered to our students. As a school we work
together to articulate curricula across grade levels. We feel that students should
hear the same language regarding reading, writing, thinking, speaking, and listening and
in the disciplines as well.
In the past few years, our School Improvement
Program has focused on improving teaching and learning in reading, writing, and
mathematics. We also have a strong Citizenship program that helps students
understand concepts such as respect, responsibility, kindness, trustworthiness, and
citizenship.
