Principal's News Week of September 13, 2021
Erin's Law and Mutual Ground
In response to concerns regarding child safety and vulnerability to sexual abuse, the State of Illinois requires schools to provide instruction in personal safety and awareness of safe/unsafe situations. The law is known as Erin's law and our School District will continue to partner with Mutual Ground, Inc. to provide Personal Body Safety Education instruction to our 1st and 2nd grade classes as part of the district comprehensive plan. Mutual Ground has provided this program in our district and many school districts throughout the area. Additionally, our school social worker, Mrs. Brandt, will be doing the presentation to our kindergarten students. More information about Erin's Law and Mutual Ground is attached to this communication. We look forward to providing this opportunity for our students.
First PTA General Meeting
The first May Watts PTA General Meeting of the 2021-2022 school year is scheduled for Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 7:00 PM. The meeting will be held in the LMC at May Watts. All are welcome to come to the meeting in order to learn more about the PTA and help to plan the events and activities for the rest of the school year. Please understand that if one of your children are at home with a cough, sore throat, fever, vomiting, etc., then all non-vaccinated siblings need to stay home until the sick child is cleared to return by the health office. This is consistent with the Exclusionary Guidance put forth by the IDPH. Click here to access the guidelines and reference Row E of the document.
