Test to Stay

In accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) for schools that serve students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12, Indian Prairie School District 204 is implementing a Test to Stay pilot program at May Watts Elementary. The program will begin on Monday, October 18, 2021.

Test to Stay protocols can be used to keep students in school when identified as a close contact to a positive case of COVID-19 during the school day. This allows asymptomatic, unvaccinated students to avoid quarantine or exclusion by testing on days one, three, five, and seven after exposure to COVID-19 as long as they continue to test negative and remain asymptomatic.

District 204 has contracted with Northshore Clinical Labs which will provide test kits for the Test to Stay program to be administered by nurses at our school. Parents will need to give consent for their child to participate in the Test to Stay program.

Please see the Test to Stay FAQ for more information.

Fall Parties

We are pleased to announce that classroom parties will return this year! Our first PTA-sponsored party will be the Fall Party on Friday, October 29th. Due to pandemic protocols, however, the parties will look significantly different. The biggest difference will be that they will be hosted outside. We will still adhere to social distancing guidelines and doing the parties in this manner allows for parents to come in and help. The parties will be broken into two sessions. The first session is for 3rd, 4trh and 5th graders from 1:30-2:20 PM and the second session will be for our kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders from 2:30-3:20 PM. We will not be doing a costume parade this year and the parties will be canceled in the event of inclement weather. During the parties, teachers and parents will be facilitating games/activities for the students and the PTA will provide treats consisting of fruit juice and cookies. Ingredient lists for the treats will be provided soon. Please contact your child's classroom teacher if you do not want your child to participate in the party and we will provide alternate activities.
