Reported by christine_binderup@ipsd.org on 11/22/21

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

The May Watts Staff and I would like to wish you a happy, healthy and safe Thanksgiving! We are extremely thankful for your continued flexibility, support and understanding. Please remember that parent teacher conferences are all virtual on Monday, November 22, 2021 and then school will be closed for the break until Monday, November 29, 2021. Enjoy the time with family and friends!

PTA Spirit Wear Logo Contest

We had a fantastic turnout for our logo contest- about 90 Wolverines submitted artwork! Thank you so much for all who participated. The spirit wear order form is attached to this communication and a hard copy was sent home in backpacks last Friday. NEW this year, you will be able to choose which logo you would like! Congratulations to our five students who earned honorable mention recognition, Tre Santoyo, Erin McKernan, Layla Snarey, Camden Kuhr and Julia Gregori, and to our overall winner, third grader Roman Baranovski!

Giftmart

Again this year, various schools will be collecting toys for under-resourced families in Indian Prairie School District 204 as part of the Giftmart Program.

Parents or guardians of students in need are invited to the Giftmart Toyshop, ahead of the winter holidays, where they can purchase new toys for $2.00 each. 100% of the proceeds made from the sale of each toy will be donated back to the invited family’s school to fund much needed resources.

Please consider donating a new, unwrapped toy that is safe for children ages 6-12. (No stuffed animals or board games, please). Toys will be collected from November 6 – December 6 in Giftmart Toy Collection Boxes located inside of the following schools: Metea Valley and Waubonsie Valley High Schools— Granger, Crone, Gregory, and Fischer Middle Schools— and Brooks, Cowlishaw, Fry, Graham, Georgetown, Gombert, May Watts, McCarty, Owen, Patterson, Peterson, Welch, and Young elementary Schools. Alternatively, a gift may be donated through the Amazon giving link.

Thank you for your generosity and participation! For a list of toy ideas, a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Hgh6vDpgOUeq111A4UR7N0Cy-f6sqQk4mNekBg9j8uM/edit?usp=sharing">click here.

Gifts of Gratitude

Looking for a unique and meaningful holiday gift for teachers and staff? Consider honoring a special IPSD 204 teacher or staff member through IPEF’s ‘Gifts of Gratitude’ program. Share your appreciation by making a tax-deductible donation to IPEF on behalf of your honoree through Dec. 10th. Each Gifts of Gratitude honoree will receive a personalized certificate prior to the holiday break. All donations benefit IPEF’s Teacher Innovation Grants program. https://ipef204.org/recognize-great-teachers/

Boundary Change Information

LDistrict 204 held three Boundary Community Forums. During the evening events, over 1,100 people attended to learn more about the concepts and hear public comments from more than 120 speakers.

For those unable to attend, information is available online including a slide deck, and concept maps. Community members can also see how the concepts impact their household by using the boundary concept address locator tool. District 204 encourages the community to provide their feedback by emailing the board directly.

District administrators will present their recommendation for boundary adjustments to the Board of Education at a workshop on Monday, December 20 at 5 pm. The meeting will be held at the Crouse Education Center, 780 Shoreline Drive, Aurora. Meeting agendas and documents will be available online prior to the meeting. Video of the meeting can be streamed live or viewed the following day at the District’s YouTube channel.
